Information Sells
A 6 Part Series That Will Help You Create High
Quality Information Products
There is a large market for quality information
products. However you plan on delivering your product - whether it is an
ebook or an instructional video, a traditional, shrink-wrapped DVD or a
downloadable flash video - this series will show you how to make a
professional product that can be viewed on a variety of platforms, from
iPhone to desktop computer.
CLASS #1
We begin this series with a look at the impact of
budgetary concerns on your product: everything from hiring talent to
preparing your delivery method hangs on your budget. Planning isn't all
dry numbers, however. Even without a large budget, you can create
exciting products using works released to the Public Domain and
free or low cost tools and software. Useful

You can
increase cover
price and
profits by
adding extra
value to your
ebooks. In Part 2, we
delve deeper
into ebooks by
examining the
software and
techniques used
to create
quality.
Dany Byrne,
author of
Elegant Ebooks ,
explains how to
use Microsoft
Word to layout
and ebook so
that it has a
professional
visual style.
Then Cindy
Shebley explains
how to use Adobe
Acrobat to
customize and
add value to
existing PDFs
found in the
public domain so
that they become
your
ebook and not
just another
download.

CLASS #3 Whoever said, "You can't judge a book by its cover,"
never tried to sell books. In Part 3, we
look at the
impact of art
work on your
product.
Ebooks with good "box shots" (that is, art work that represents what
a physical copy of the ebook would look like) outsell ebooks with just a
plain description many times over. The artwork makes the book "real." Even
when you are selling a physical product, like a CD or DVD, you may find
boxshot software superior to other software for creating mock covers.
The good news is, this sales boost can be achieved
without a large
budget, an art
department, or a degree in design. You can
create
professional,
retail ready art
work that will
be accepted by Amazon and other retailers using
relatively
inexpensive
software.

CLASS #4
Everyone "knows" video increases sales - but very few of us know how
to edit video. You have less than 10 seconds to engage your viewer
before they click away to another video - so make those seconds count!
Editing live video can be challenging - especially if you try to do it
using the wrong tools for the job. Fortunately, the digital revolution
has made it possible to create professional videos - for viewing online
or from DVDs - using surprisingly inexpensive software.
This tutorial uses Sony Movie Studio Platinum 8 and 60 seconds of
footage from a Flip video camera to demonstrate how simple it is to
combine the basic building blocks of movie production to create a short
clip. These techniques can be adapted to any full motion video for any
product or situation.
You'll see how to add dissolves, background sounds, scrolling titles,
lower thirds, and other professional touches to your clips. Whether you
plan to make and sell DVDs or just produce promotional clips for You
Tube, you'll need this information.
Part of any good video is planning - so don't forget to download the
free storyboard templates in the
Web Sellers Circle Download Library to help you organize your
thoughts. Need more help? There are Copyright warning templates and even
a simple podcaster/video teleprompter program in the library.

CLASS #5
Many of the most popular videos on the web are not shot with
camcorders. Rather, they are "screencasts" - recordings of a computer
monitor that are made to demonstrate how to accomplish a task, use a
piece of software, or find some information on the web. While there are
many different screencasting tools available, the most popular and the
most polished remains TechSmith's Camtasia. (These tutorials are all
recorded using Camtasia Studio, for instance.)
This class uses live demonstrations of Camtasia Studio and
Audacity.
You'll see how to record the audio portion of your screencast
separately in Audacity, edit it for best sound, and then bring the
edited version into Camtasia where it can be added to the video. This
will create a much more professional end product.
Careful editing to remove the inevitable "umms" and "ahs" that
afflict us all pays off in the end. And you'll have the opportunity to
remove superfluous material from your broadcast before you make it
publically available.

CLASS #6
Once you've produced your video, you'll want to share it in the best
format for the widest audience. The first part of this episode discusses
how to render (that is, produce) video - whether live action or
screencast - for greatest impact on You Tube and/or wide screen DVD. We
give you the settings and formats that create the best results every
time.
Viewers expect high definition - or at least widescreen - videos.
Don't make your brand new video look passe by producing in an outdated
format. Even if you have an older monitor or camcorder, you can mimic
the look of widescreen for your videos. Your audience expects it - and
this tutorial will give you the outputs you need.
CD and DVD duplication can be expensive. Having all your operating
capital tied up in inventory can choke your business. But if you want to
sell on a high traffic site like Amazon, you need a professionally
duplicated product.
That's why a "Press on Demand" duplicator like Kunaki.com is so
important to the independent Information Product producer.
With no upfront costs, you can have a retail ready product, complete
with standard UPC bar code, created overnight. Let us help you get
started.
And don't forget - we have
templates available that match the dimensions of the Kunaki case, disk,
and insert exactly so you can concentrate on designing your message
and artwork and leave the measuring and math to the computer.
